Saluting East Lake’s softball seniors

East Lake’s senior class did some impressive things the past few seasons —on and off the field. The Eagles won three straight district titles and consistently ranked among the top softball teams in the state for academic achievement based on grade point averages. Along the way, East Lake has taken home plenty of tournament titles, such as the Montverde Invitational (twice) and the Lady ‘Canes Spring Classic hosted by Palm Harbor University. This season, the Eagles are 9-4 and still hopeful they can finish out their season.

Senior memories: “To play at East lake with the group of seniors I experienced the past four years with was something memorable. I will never ever forget it. We have gone through so much together, from winning high school tournaments to winning district tournaments all three years, and we also experienced really tough losses throughout our journey. But this is what made us closer. We have been through our highs and lows together, but we always have each other’s backs no matter what at any time. I feel our class had such a good bond, and it’s something I will cherish forever.”

Best career moment: “Probably winning the district tournament my freshman year because I knew this group was something special.”

Senior memories: “Not only have the seniors played with each other way before high school, but so did many of the other girls, which helped us grow even closer. East Lake just has an overall great family environment, especially with these other seniors that not only I get to call my best friends but luckily, my teammates. They have pushed me on and off the field in so many ways, and there’s no other group of girls I would’ve spent these past four years with.”

Best career moment: “It would definitely have to be winning the Montverde tournament both years. The energy we had and just being able to spend a weekend away with my teammates was just so fun.”

Senior memories: “It meant a lot to me (this group of seniors). These girls are like sisters to me and we’re all very close. We have all known each other since we were little and playing 10-under travel ball against each other or even on the same team. Some of us went to the same middle school and then to all go to the same high school and play with each other was so much fun these past four years. There’s nobody else I would rather play for than Eastlake and no other senior class would I want to be a part of . What we have is special.”

Best career moment: “From this year I would say winning the Montverde tournament two years in a row.”

Senior memories: “It means a lot to me. I love playing with them. I’ve grown up playing with some of them, and we all have gotten really close. I hope we can all play together again, but if not I am so proud of what we accomplished as a class in the past four years.”

Best career moment: “This year’s Montverde tournament because it was the second year winning it in a row. We all played together and all the games were high energy and fun. Another great moment was last year during our strike out cancer game when I hit two home runs. That game is always one of my favorite games of the year.”

Senior memories: “This team and this group were very special because we were surrounded by a family feeling. We know each other so well on and off the field, and we make each other better. We may have had different personalities, but softball helped bring us closer together.”

Best career moment: “The game against West Orange in the Montverde tournament. I hit a double with two outs to start a rally for a win that got us in to the championship game.”
