Football: Sebring at Clearwater preview

5A region final

Sebring (8-3) at Clearwater (11-1), 7:30

The Tornadoes are having their best season in school history. They have won 11 straight and are in the region final for the first time. Clearwater’s success is due in large part to an offense that is averaging 42 points per game. Quarterback Aidan MacLean, a transfer from East Lake, became the starter and has already set the Pinellas County record for touchdown passes in a season with 41. His favorite target is CJ Lee, who leads the state in touchdown receptions with 21. And don’t forget about the run game. Efrem Only is a 1,000-yard rusher who gives the Tornadoes balance in their attack. That high-powered offense will be put to the test against the Blue Streaks, who have won six straight and have allowed a combined 14 points in their last four games, including shutouts over Wesley Chapel (41-0) and Gibbs (29-0) in the first two rounds of the playoffs.
