Gaither’s Jordan Oladokun commits to Iowa

Gaither defensive back Jordan Oladokun ended his college recruitment by committing to Iowa. The rising senior made his announcement live on Instagram. He picked the Hawkeyes over offers from 18 other schools, including Georgia Tech, Maryland and Penn State.

Oladokun’s decision gives Iowa nine commitments for the 2021 class. Though he is the first from the state in this class to pledge his allegiance to the Hawkeyes, the program has done well in Florida, particularly in the Tampa Bay area. There are three locals currently on the roster: Jesuit’s Dane Belton and Largo’s Calvin Lockett and Quavon Matthews.

A ball hawk in the secondary, Oladokun has a combined nine interceptions the past two seasons. He also emerged as a dependable receiver on offense with 532 yards and six touchdowns as a junior last year.

Oladokun is the younger brother of former Sickles standout Chris Oladokun, who started his college career as a quarterback at USF before transferring to Samford. This past season, Chris threw for 2,058 yards and 18 touchdowns with the Bulldogs.
