The Pinellas County private school boys basketball team has been released. The teams were selected by the 10 private schools in the county.
Player of the year
Josh Berenbaum, Sr., Calvary Christian
At 6-foot-8, Berenbaum used his height to his advantage, averaging 13.2 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game to go along with six double-doubles. The North Florida signee also helped lead the Warriors to the region semifinals. He finished his high school career with 1,125 points.
First team
G Jordan Bartram, Sr., Lakeside Christian: A consistent scorer, Bartram averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks per game for the Lions. He also posted six double-doubles and scored a season-high 35 points in a district playoff game against Canterbury.
G Jacob Channer, Sr., Shorecrest: The distance specialist led the Chargers in scoring (16.8 points per game) while shooting 36-percent from 3-point range. He also averaged 4.2 rebounds and 2 assists per game. Channer had eight games with 20 points or more points, including a season-high 26 against Northside in January.
F Johnny Newton, Sr., Clearwater Central Catholic: The Illinois football signee also shined on the basketball court, averaging 15 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and had 11 double-doubles this season.
G/F Jalen Parker, Sr., Admiral Farragut: The Missouri Southern State signee averaged a double-double for the season (12 points and 10 rebounds per game).
G Percy Pederson III, Jr., Canterbury: A prolific scorer, Pederson ranked 13th in the state with an average of 25.5 points per game. He also finished the season with three 40-point games including a 48-point performance in the district semifinals.
