UCF’s Darin Green Jr. withdraws from NBA Draft

UCF guard Darin Green Jr. withdrew his name from the NBA Draft and will return to play for the Knights this season.

Green Jr., a former Wharton standout, declared for the draft in April but did not hire an agent in order to keep his amateur status.

When the rising sophomore made his intentions to enter the draft, the deadline for players to withdraw was June 3. The NCAA announced two weeks ago that the date was indefinitely for players to retain their eligibility.

Part of the reason Green Jr. initially declared was so he could through the evaluation process. But workouts and interviews had to be done virtually and the combine has been postponed.

Green Jr’s return gives the Knights some scoring punch. Last season, he finished as the team’s second-leading scorer with an average of 10.1 points per game and set the school record for most 3-pointers made by a freshman with 68.
