No more waiting. The Florida High School Athletic Association released its postseason dates and format for each fall sport this week. And county administrators in Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas have finalized starting dates for practices and regular seasons contests.
For all fall sports, the opt in date for programs to participate in the state series is Sept. 18. Those that do not can play beyond the established postseason dates upon FHSAA approval. The minimal requirements for individuals and teams in fall sports also are waived.
In volleyball, the seedings for district tournaments will be determined by a blind draw instead of a rankings system. The district champion and runnerup will advance to the playoffs.
