Time to vote: Defensive player of the week

Here are the nominations fans and coaches submitted for defensive player of the week. Voting lasts through Monday.

DB Aumhryaun Brown, Sr., Lakewood

Stats: This could really go to the entire Spartans, which forced nine turnovers in a win over Boca Ciega. Brown had two of them (an interception and a fumble recovery) to go along with five tackles.  

DB Jonathan Brown, Sr., Seminole

Stats: Picked off two passes and had four tackles in a win over Dunedin. The Warhawks are now 2-0 for the first time since 2002.

DB/WR Leroy Lopez, Sr., Countryside

Stats: Registered four tackles and picked off a pass in a win over Osceola. He also had 119 yards on offense (71 receiving, 48 rushing) and scored twice on offense. 

LB Hayden Reed, Sr., Gaither

Stats: The Army commit had nine tackles and a sack as part of an impressive defensive performance by the Cowboys in a win over Tampa Bay Tech. 

OLB/SS Carson Schiavello, So., Clearwater Central Catholic

Stats: Recorded 14 tackles (5 solo), the biggest coming on Wiregrass Ranch’s final drive that resulted in a turnover on downs. He also had in the Marauders’ win that got them back to .500.
