The PTP volleyball players of the week

The Prime Time pick

OH Kylie Stroehlein, Sr., Sickles

In eight matches, Stroehlein had a combined 113 kills and 87 digs to help the Gryphons go 6-2 for the week.

Her domination at the net is nothing new. After all, Stroehlein has 212 kills so far this season. No other Sickles player has more than 100.

Her performance last week led to some worthy praise. Stroehlein was named the MaxPreps/American Volleyball Coaches Association state player of the week. She is the only area player to receive that honor so far this season.

The fans’ pick

OH Kyla Barker, Osceola

In seven matches last week, Barker put up some impressive statistics. She finished with a combined 85 assists, 19 digs, 11 kills and 4 blocks.

Those numbers helped the Warriors go 6-1 for the week. At the Calvary Christian Invitational, Barker led Osceola to five wins and the tournament title. She was named MVP of the tournament.

That got the attention of the fans. Barker received a little more than 38 percent of the votes (12.524) to beat out St. Petersburg’s Jenna Davis, who finished with just more than 28 percent (9,314 votes).
