Thursday night football forecast

Countryside (3-1) at Boca Ciega (3-1), 7 p.m.

Outlook: After starting 3-0, the Cougars knew they would be tested with three straight games against teams that made the playoffs last year. Countryside lost the first challenge, falling to Largo last week. Now comes another difficult matchup against the Pirates, who have won their last two games by a combined 114-15.

Pinkos’ pick: Boca Ciega by 11

Putnam’s prediction: Boca Ciega 28-21

Osceola (1-3) at Palm Harbor University (1-2), 7 p.m.

Outlook: Both teams have some momentum after winning for the first time last week. The Hurricanes could easily be undefeated. They lost on a blocked punt to Wharton and on a field goal in double overtime to Countryside. Defensely, PHU has been stellar, allowing a combined 29 points in the first three games. That could be bad news for the Warriors, who are averaging 13 points per game.

Pinkos’ pick: PHU by 14

Putnam’s prediction: PHU 21-6

Seminole (2-2) at Hollins (0-4), 7 p.m.

Outlook: A win would get the Warhawks above .500, something that has not happened with the program this late in the season in 15 years. With the exception of a lopsided loss (54-9) to Boca Ciega two weeks ago, Seminole’s defense has played well. In the other three games, the Warhawks have allowed a combined 22 points. That will be a challenge for the Royals, who have managed to score just 47 points in their winless start.

Pinkos’ pick: Seminole by 3

Putnam’s prediction: Seminole 13-12
