Thursday night football forecast

Boca Ciega (6-1) at Clearwater (4-3)

Outlook: One of the top matchups of the final week of the regular season. After starting 1-1, the Pirates have won five straight, all by 36 or more points. So Boca Ciega is getting just what it needs before the playoffs begin: a test. The Tornadoes, who started 1-3, have won three straight, including victories over Countryside and Pinellas Park. Clearwater has owned this series, winning six straight.

Pinkos’ pick: Boca Ciega by 14

Putnam’s prediction: Clearwater 28-27

Pinellas Park (4-2) at Gibbs (3-4)

Outlook: The Patriots were dealing with COVID issues last week and had quarantine, which forced them to cancel their game against East Lake. Pinellas Park is now cleared to play, though some players will still be quarantining. A victory in the regular season finale would give the Patriots a three-game win streak heading into the playoffs.

Pinkos’ pick: Pinellas Park by 17

Putnam’s prediction: Pinellas Park 34-14
