The PTP boys cross country runners of the week

PTP pick

Ethan Lipham, Jr., Berkeley Prep

At the Class 2A, District 10 meet, Ethan Lipham won in 16 minutes, 10.60 seconds, finishing eight seconds of his closest competitor.

His time was the second-fastest among all area boys running competing in district meets two weeks ago.

Better still, Lipham had plenty of teammates following his lead.

That helped the Buccaneers win the team title with ease. Berkeley Prep scored 36 points and had four runners place among the top seven.

The fans’ pick

Colby Robbins, Jr., Sunlake

The time Coly Robbins recorded at the Class 3A, District 9 meet — 16 minutes and 0.30 seconds — was not his fastest this season.

But it was fast enough to set the pace, hold a steady lead and finish first.

That was all that mattered.

While Robbins surged ahead, his teammates were not far behind. They all helped the Seahawks take the team title with 23 points — 33 ahead of Jesuit.

Robbins also won fan approval. He received more than 52 percent of the votes (5,817) to beat out Seffner Christian’s Dalin Mitchell, who had more than 47 percent of the votes (5,342).
