The PTP girls basketball players of the week

The fans’ pick

G Courtney Logan, Sr., East Bay

Courtney Logan is the go-to girl for East Bay.

The proof is in the stats.

This season, Logan is averaging a team-leading 16.4 points per game. No other player on the team is averaging double-digits in points.

But Logan’s production goes beyond that. She also leads the team in steals (5.7) and assists (2.8) per game. That is a big reason the Indians are 10-5, their best record in nearly a decade.

Two weeks ago, Logan averaged 15 points and five rebounds in wins over Hillsborough and Bloomingdale.

Fans took notice. Logan received more than 50 percent of the votes (242) to beat out Clearwater’s Kyleigh Welsh, who had more than 25 percent (124).

The PTP picks

C Kyleigh Welsh, Jr., Clearwater: Made her presence known around the basket with 10 blocked shots and seven rebounds in a win over Boca Ciega.

G Triniti Youngblood, Sr., Brooks DeBartolo: Led the Phoenix with 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in a win over previously undefeated Tampa Bay Tech.
