The PTP girls basketball players of the week

The fans’ pick

G Brianna Gautier, So., St. Petersburg Catholic

As a freshman last season, Brianna Gautier made an immediate impact, averaging a team-leading 13.8 points per to help the program finish second in the Class 3A, District 5 tournament.

With a more balanced lineup, Gautier did not have to always be the go-to girl for the Barons this season. She was the third-leading scorer on a team where just about any starter can take the lead role depending on who is on that night.

Still, Gautier delivered when the games mattered the most.

Two weeks ago, she averaged 13 points and nine rebounds per game in wins over Clearwater Central Catholic and Calvary Christian to lead St. Petersburg Catholic to the 3A-5 title.

Fans took notice. Gautier received 43 percent of the votes (479) to beat out Jefferson’s Kaliyah Gaynor, who had 33 percent (369 votes).

The PTP pick

F/G Brionna McClinton, Sr., Brooks DeBartolo

Came up big against Berkeley Prep and Carrollwood Day, averaging 17 points and six rebounds per game in both wins for the Class 3A, District 9 Phoenix. .
