Plant’s Kendal Cheesman named MaxPrep’s state player of the year

Another day, another award for Plant’s Kendal Cheesman.

After being named the Class 7A state girls basketball player of the year on Tuesday, Cheesman was selected as MaxPrep’s overall state player of the year Wednesday afternoon.

The Panthers senior forward, who has already signed with Vanderbilt, averaged 17.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game and led her team to the 7A state title, the first in school history.

Cheesman scored 24 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in the championship game to knock off defending champion Miami, the team that beat Plant in last year’s title game. She is now eligible to be included in MaxPreps’ All-America team.
