The PTP softball players of the week

The fans’ pick

OF Davia Schweitzer, Jr., Seminole

Two years after helping Madeira Beach win the Babe Ruth World Series, Davia Schweitzer was in the starting lineup for Seminole.

As a sophomore last year, she was off to a solid start, hitting .412, fourth-best on the team.

But the season was cut short after five games because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It took awhile, but Schweitzer has once again found her groove at the plate.

Last week, she had her best performance of the season, finishing a combined 6-for-7 with four RBIs and five runs scored in wins over Boca Ciega and Clearwater.

Fans took notice. Schweitzer received more than 50 percent of the votes (20,501) to beat out Robinson’s Jordan Stephens, who had more than 43 percent (17,685).

The PTP picks
