Plant’s Quinn Ryan named 7A state player of the year

Plant’s Quinn Ryan was selected as the Class 7A state player of the year in girls soccer by the Florida Dairy Farmers.

The winners in each classification were selected through voting from a statewide panel of girls soccer coaches and media representatives. They are now eligible to be named the overall winner in the state, which will go through another round of voting and likely be announced next week.

Quinn, a senior midfielder, led the Panthers to an 18-2 record and a state semifinal appearance. The USF signee scored a team-high 33 goals, including six in the region finals, and had nine assists.

This is the second girls athlete from Plant to win 7A state honors in a winter sport. Last week, the Panthers’ Kendal Cheesman was named the 7A girls basketball player of the year after leading the program to its first first state title.
