Time to vote: Softball player of the week

Here are the nominees for the softball player of the week. Voting lasts through Wednesday. 

C Lydia Castro, Sr., Newsome: Had a combined six hits in four games last week, none bigger than the bunt single that drove home the winning run in the eighth inning against East Ridge in the Kissimmee Klassic title game. 

1B/3B Destiny DeHoyos, Sr., Robinson: Provided some pop with a combined three homers and 11 RBIs to help the Knights go 3-1 at the Kissimmee Klassic. 

P/1B Maddie Droz, Sr., Bloomingdale: Finished 3-for-5 with a double, a homer and four RBIs in a win over Sarasota and threw a two-hitter, allowing one earned run while striking out eight to beat East Bay. 

C/CF Tayten Moore, Fr., Canterbury: Ended up a combined 7-for-11 with a double and seven RBIs in wins over St. Cloud, Matanzas and Merritt Island at the Kissimmee Klassic. 

P Mariah Rivera, Sr., Osceola: Led the Warriors by going a combined 7-for-9 with two doubles, two homers and six RBIs in three wins. 

3B Mandy Schwartz, Jr., Cypress Creek: Went a combined 5-for-6 with three homers, a double and six RBIs in a loss to River Ridge and a win over Sunlake.
