The PTP softball players of the week

The fans’ pick

1B Jadeyn Ruszkowski, Sr., Newsome

Through her high school career, Jadeyn Ruszkowski has been a steady contributor, averaging more than 20 RBIs, six doubles and three triples per season. Not to mention she has had at least a .419 batting average in each of her four seasons.

This season, Newsome has one of the deepest lineups in the area. The entire batting order can produce.

Ruszkowski has done her part, averaging .486 with 11 RBIs and seven doubles.

Last week, she delivered in perhaps the biggest game of the season. Ruszkowski (featured photo above courtesy of Carol Bradbourne) hit two doubles and had three RBIs in a battle of unbeatens against Sickles that kept the Wolves’ perfect record intact.

Fans were impressed. Ruszkowski received more than 33 percent of the votes (602) to beat out Nature Coast’s Dom Sekelsky, who had more than 30 percent (544).
