QB/CB Karina Diaz, Sr., Alonso

A four-year member of the varsity squad, Karina Diaz played on the 2019 state championship team and was named a captain this season.

The veteran threw for more than 3,400 yards and 47 touchdowns as a senior.

Last week, Diaz completed 54 of her 84 passes for a combined 678 yards and 11 touchdowns to lead the Ravens to the Class 2A, District 7 title. In the championship game, she threw for 250 yards and five touchdowns.

Fans were impressed. Diaz received 57 percent of the votes (3,625) to beat out Robinson’s Sydney Stout, who had 41 percent (2,627 votes).

QB Sydney Stout, Sr., Robinson: In the Class 1A, District 11 tournament, Stout completed 73 percent of her passes for a combined 787 yards and 13 TDs. She now has a state record 90 touchdown passes this season.
