Steinbrenner has one of the stingiest defenses in the area, allowing a combined 16 goals in the past five games, all wins.
The ability to thwart opposing offenses has a lot to do with Abby Eash, the Warriors’ top goaltender.
The sophomore has allowed just 57 goals all season and has recorded a team-high 64 saves.
Last week, Eash posted a shutout and allowed a combined three goals to help the Warriors beat Mitchell and Wiregrass Ranch to take the Class 2A, District 9 title.
Fans took notice. Eash received more than 51 percent of the votes (1,808) to beat out Newsome’s Taylor Dabney, who had more than 46 percent (1,633 votes).
