Time to vote: Softball player of the week

Here are the nominees for the softball player of the week. Voting lasts through Wednesday.

P/1B Ava Braswell, Fr., Hernando: Allowed a combined three hits and recorded 14 strikeouts in shutouts over Weeki Wachee and Wesley Chapel to lead the Leopards to the title at the Class 4A, District 9 tournament. 

UTIL Chase Cordoves, Sr., Academy of the Holy Names: Went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs to win over Clearwater Central Catholic and had the walk-off sacrifice fly to beat Calvary Christian in the championship game of the Class 3A, District 11 tournament. 

P/1B Hannah Harring, Jr., Palm Harbor University: Allowed a combined three unearned runs and recorded six strikeouts during the Class 7A, District 11 tournament to help the Hurricanes beat Plant and Steinbrenner for the title. 

LF Katey Hauschen, Sr., River Ridge: Hit a two-run walk-off blast, the first homer of her high school in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Royal Knights to win over rival Land O’ Lakes in the Class 5A, District 5 championship game. 

P Mackenzie Duford, Jr., Seminole: Threw a pair of shutouts against Clearwater and Osceola, allowing a combined two hits while striking out 15, to lead the Warhawks to the Class 5A, District 6 title.  

C Vanessa Neptune, Jr., Mitchell: Went a combined 5-for-7 with a double, a homer, six RBIs and five runs scored in wins over East Lake and Sunlake to help the Mustangs take home the Class 6A, District 10 title. 

P/CF Alyssa Vallad, So., Sumner: At the 5A-10 tournament, Vallad recorded a combined 18 strikeouts on the mound and went 5-for-6 with two homers, a triple, 10 RBIs and six runs scored in wins over Blake and Hillsborough to help the first-year Stingrays take home the district title.
