Here are the nominees for the baseball player of the week. Voting lasts through Wednesday. 

P/INF/OF Ethan Chana, So., Wesley Chapel: Allowed a combined three hits and one earned run while striking out seven in 8 ⅓ innings of work to help the Wildcats beat Zephyrhills in the quarterfinals and Cypress Creek in the final to take the Class 4A, District 10 title. 

UTIL Jaxen Gates, So., Nature Coast: Went a combined 5-for-8 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in wins over Central and Nature Coast to claim the 4A, District 7 title. 

P Trent Hawks, Jr., River Ridge: Threw a four-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in a 5A-6 district semifinal win over Freedom and went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a championship game win over Land O’ Lakes to take home the title. 

INF Ryan Lowe, Sr., Northside Christian: Went a combined 4-for-6 with a double and three RBIs in wins over St. Petersburg Catholic and Keswick Christian to take the 2A-10 district title. 

P Sean Melanson, Sr., Northeast: Threw a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in a 5A-9 district semifinal win over Seminole that secured a playoff and eventually help the Vikings take home the title.
