Armwood’s Charles Montgomery commits to Marshall

Armwood athlete Charles Montgomery put an end to a tumultuous year-long recruiting process by announcing his commitment to Marshall on Tuesday.

The three-star recruit originally committed to Florida nearly a year ago.

With his college plans seemingly set, Montgomery focused on having a solid senior season. He did just that, leading the Hawks in receiving yards (453) and tying for the team lead in receiving touchdowns (six).

Before the early signing period, Montgomery’s plans changed. He decommitted to the Gators, then spent the next six months in limbo wondering if he would find the right fit.

Montgomery found it with the Thundering Herd.

Marshall has always been an attractive landing spot for locals. There currently are four players from the bay area on the Thundering Herd’s 2021 roster Montgomery’s former Hawks teammate De’Kwan Hughes.
