The PTP baseball players of the week

The fans’ pick

OF Marlon Bowen, Sr., Bloomingdale

After two years of playing in a more reserved role, Marlon Bowen got his chance to become a starter this season.

He made the most of that opportunity.

The veteran ranks fourth on the team in batting average (.359), second in home runs (2) and is tied for the lead in RBIs (22).

And when the games mattered most, Bowen delivered.

Two weeks ago, Bowen went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs in a 6A region quarterfinal win over Gaither.

Fans were impressed. Bowen received 51 percent of the votes (3,365) to beat out Jesuit’s Nick Rodriguez, who had more than 44 percent (2,942 votes).

The PTP pick

INF Nick Rodriguez, Sr., Jesuit: Was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in a win over Brandon.
