Time to vote: Softball player of the week

Here are the nominees for the softball player of the week. Voting lasts through Wednesday. 

INF Sydney Fowler, Jr., Mitchell: Threw a complete-game shutout and hit a two-run homer in a win over Venice and lead the Mustangs to their first 6A state semifinal appearance. 

SS Nehanda Lewis, Jr., Land O’ Lakes: Went a combined 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored in wins over River Ridge and Palmetto to reach the 6A state semifinals. 

P/3B/2B Belle Sardja, Sr., Academy of the Holy Names: Threw a pair of shutouts, allowing a combined seven hits and finishing with 11 strikeouts in wins over Calvary Christian and Lakeland McKeel Academy to advance to the 3A state semifinals. 

P/2B/3B Morgen Talley, 8th, Canterbury: Hit a combined three homers and had eight RBIs in wins over Academy at the Lakes and Fort Myers Evangelical Christian to reach the 2A state semifinals. 

1B/P Olivia Townsend, Sr., Hernando: Finished a combined 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in wins over Wesley Chapel and Lake Region to advance to the 5A state semifinals.
