The baseball playoffs continue Wednesday with region final games in Classes 5A-3A. Admission is $7. Here is the schedule with outlooks for each area game, as well as team leaders for each matchup.
Class 5A
Land O’ Lakes (19-8) at Jefferson (18-10), 7
Both teams are coming off impressive victories. The Gators beat Ocala Vanguard thanks to the performance of Brian Holiday, who threw a no-hitter with 19 strikeouts. Better still, the win was the 600th for Land O’ Lakes coach Calvin Baisley and put the Gators in the region final for the first time. The Dragons, who lost their previous four meetings against nationally ranked Jesuit, knocked off their district rival when it mattered most in the region semifinals.
