Baseball: One inning is costly for Jefferson in 5A state semifinals

Jefferson, which was making its first state semifinal appearance since winning it all in 2018, could not duplicate the success from that title run.

Lynn Haven Mosley’s David Hudson hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Dolphins more than enough cushion to cruise to a 5-1 victory.

Jaden Rudd got the win for Mosley. He went seven innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out five and walking one.

Matthew Johnson took the loss for the Dragons. The righthander surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings, striking out five.

Javier James led Jefferson on offense, going 2-for-3.
