The Crusaders, who were coming off a region final appearance in 2019, had a rough ending last season. A bulk of the varsity lineup had to quarantine because of COVID protocols during the district tournament. Keswick Christian had to use junior varsity players in its final two matches of the season, both losses. Those setbacks served as a powerful motivator for a team with the talent to make another deep playoff run. The leader is Sydney Jackwin, who has played since the eighth grade and has 1,128 kills and 844 digs in her high school career. The Crusaders should be solid at the net with middle blockers Lauren Cook (141 kills last season) and Sydney Melcher (97 kills) both returning. Hannah Jantomaso, who started as an eighth-grader last season, will be even more experienced handling the offense as the setter. Last season, she had 522 assists.
