Keswick Christian d. Mitchell 3-2
After losing the first two sets, the Class 2A Crusaders not only avoided being swept but also roared back to beat Class 6A Mitchell 24-26, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18, 16-14 in their final preseason match. Sydney Jackwin had a monster performance, finishing with 33 kills, 13 digs and four service aces to lead Keswick Christian’s comeback. Other solid contributors for the Crusaders included Hannah Jantomaso (43 assists, 10 digs), Camille Holloway (6 digs, 5 kills, 4 blocks), Isabel Brenes-LaRoche (11 digs, four assists) and Robyn Cantwell (11 digs, five aces). Keswick Christian hosts Seffner Christian on Tuesday in the season opener.
Newsome d. Northside Christian 3-1
The Wolves got off to a solid start, beating Keswick Christian and Northside Christian each in four sets during their preseason matches. Newsome kicks off the regular season Monday at Robinson.
Carrollwood Day d. Countryside 3-0
The Patriots got some much needed confidence by sweeping Clearwater and Countryside in their two preseason matches. Carrollwood Day opens the regular season Wednesday at Anclote.
