Wednesday sports schedule

What to watch

Volleyball

Nature Coast at Weeki Wachee, 6:30

The Hernando County rivals square off in an anticipated matchup. Last season, the Hornets swept both meetings en route to a perfect regular season record.

Bishop McLaughlin at Fivay, 7

A matchup between the top two teams in Pasco County. The Hurricanes reached the state semifinals last season while the host Falcons advanced to the region finals. Both coaches — Bishop McLaughlin’s Doug Chinchar and Fivay’s Erin Clark — have known each other a long time and wanted to schedule this one to kick off the season.

Sickles at Hillsborough, 7

The Gryphons started strong, sweeping Riverview in their opener. Sickles will try to keep that momentum going when it faces the host Terriers in their season opener.

Robinson at Wharton, 7

After reaching the state semifinals last season, the Knights stumbled with a loss to Newsome in the season opener. It doesn’t get much easier against the host Wildcats in their opener.
