FNF Campus Tour preview: Plant at Robinson

Plant (1-0) at Robinson (0-1), 7:30

Three things to know

The new guard

Both teams have first-year coaches. Hank Brown, an assistant, was promoted to take over at Plant. His first mission was to create some stability considering this is the third coach the program has had in as many years. Brown had some pieces in place. It showed in a 22-2 victory over Jefferson last week in his regular season debut. AJ Durham had the biggest night, catching six passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Robinson went the same route, promoting assistant Marlo Hollingshed to head coach. There was some rebuilding to do after losing several key players who graduated or transferred. In the opener, the Knights were competitive but ended up losing 13-0 to East Bay.

Rivalry renewed

For years, this clash for South Tampa bragging rights was an annual tradition. Lately, the series has become less frequent. This is the first time the teams have met since 2019. Still, there always is enthusiasm in a rivalry that has been filled with big plays, such as this interception return for a touchdown in 1976.
