The volleyball player of the week

OPP/MH/OH Gabrielle Horn, Jr., Anclote

To get an idea of just how much Gabrielle Horn has improved as an all-around volleyball player in the past year, consider that she has already equaled or surpassed her totals from last season in just about every statistical category.

And it has taken just seven matches to do it.

Horn does her most damage around the net. Take last week when she had a combined 42 kills, 34 digs and five blocks in three matches.

Fans were impressed with those numbers. Horn received 39 percent of the votes (927) to beat out Mitchell’s Caroline Knight, who had 27 percent (640 votes).

By winning, the Sharks junior automatically moves on to become one of six nominees for the PDQ girls athlete of the week.
