The football player of the week

QB Aidan MacLean, Sr., Clearwater

Last week’s game was a memorable one for Clearwater’s Aidan MacLean.

Not only was he facing his former team but he also was playing against his twin brother, Colin, who is a receiver at East Lake.

“I’m super excited to play him and have been waiting for it for a long time,” MacLean said before last week’s contest. “I’m trying to treat it like any other game, but it definitely carries more weight to me having played for East Lake last year.”

If there was any pressure, MacLean did not show it.

He remained poised in the pocket as he continued to rack up the yards — and touchdowns.

MacLean’s final numbers: 354 yards passing and four touchdowns.

And he got what he wanted most: a 35-28 victory that evened the Tornadoes record (1-1) to start the season.

Fans were impressed. MacLean received 31 percent of the votes (646) to beat out Sickles’ Brandon Royal, who had 24 percent (495 votes).
