The football player of the week

OLB/TE James Grace, Sr., Seminole

After playing at Largo last season, James Grace transferred to Seminole in hopes of having a more prominent role on defense.

The senior has found his niche as a linebacker. In three games, he has 11 tackles, which is tied for third on the team. But his real knack is getting after that quarterback.

Last week, Grace set a school record with four sacks in a win over Dunedin that improved the Warhawks’ record to 2-1. Grace’s single-game total surpassed the previous record of three set by D’Qwell Jackson, who went to star in college at the University of Marylandand in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts.

Fans thought highly of that performance. Grace received 38 percent of the votes (403) in the football player of the week poll to beat out Cypress Creek’s Owen Walls, who had 15 percent (159 votes).
