Thursday night football forecast

Lakeside Christian (5-0) at Academy at the Lakes (1-2), 6

The visiting Lions are ranked No. 1 in the state among eight-man teams by MaxPreps. They have outscored their opponents by a combined 239-39 during their perfect start.

Putnam’s prediction: Lakeside Christian 42-14

St. Petersburg (0-3) at Dunedin (0-4), 7

Both teams are looking for their first win of the season. The Falcons, led by their passing game, are averaging 23 points per game. The Green Devils, meanwhile, are averaging just five points per game.

Putnam’s prediction: Dunedin 28-21

Seminole (2-2) at Gibbs (2-2), 7

The Warhawks gave undefeated Pinellas Park everything it could handle before losing 14-6 last week. That performance should give Seminole some momentum heading into this one.

Putnam’s prediction: Seminole 21-13

Countryside (2-2) at Palm Harbor University (2-1), 7

Since losing the season opener, the Hurricanes have won two straight in large part to a stifling defense and sound run game led by Luke Yoder. Stopping that ground game could be a tough task for the Cougars, who are allowing an average of 42 points per game.

Putnam’s prediction: Palm Harbor University 35-21
