Volleyball: Pinellas County Top 10

With one week left in the regular season, this much is clear: Calvary Christian is the top team in Pinellas County. The rest of rankings had plenty of movement. Find out where programs landed this week.

1. Calvary Christian (19-4)

Up next: Thursday vs. Carrollwood Day; Friday vs. Countryside

Last Spot: No. 1

Why they stayed put: The Warriors had perhaps the best week of any team in the area, sweeping Bishop McLaughlin and Clearwater Central Catholic, both of which entered last week ranked among the state’s top 10 in Class 3A by MaxPreps.

2. East Lake (17-6)

Up next: Thursday vs. St. Petersburg

Last spot: No. 3

Why they moved up: By sweeping Seminole and Largo last week, the Eagles extended their win streak to five. They also clinched the North Division in the Pinellas County Athletic Conference and will play St. Petersburg in the title match on Thursday.

3. Clearwater Central Catholic (14-10)

Up next: Wednesday at Plant

Last spot: No. 2

Why they moved down: Playing a brutally tough schedule, the Marauders have struggled to find some consistently, losing five straight matches in the past two weeks. It does not get any easier with a match against powerhouse Plant on Wednesday to close out the regular season.

4. St. Petersburg (15-8)

Up next: Thursday at East Lake

Last spot: No. 4

Why they stayed put:  The Green Devils swept Boca Ciega in their only match last week to extend their win streak to seven. They will travel to play East Lake in the Pinellas County Athletic Conference championship match.

5. Keswick Christian (21-3)

Up next: Tuesday at Northside Christian

Last spot: No. 5

Why they stayed put: The Crusaders are playing their best volleyball right now. They have won six straight, including the last three by sweeps over Bayshore Christian, Admiral Farragut and St. Petersburg Catholic.

6. Osceola (15-8)

Up next: Tuesday vs. Academy of the Holy Names

Last spot: No. 9

Why they moved up: The Warriors won both of their matches last week, including a five-set victory over Tarpon Springs that snapped the Spongers’ 15-match win streak.

7. Shorecrest (16-7)

Up next: Tuesday vs. Tampa Catholic; Thursday vs. Tampa Bay HEAT

Last spot: No. 7

Why they stayed put: The Chargers have won five straight, all via sweeps. The schedule becomes more challenging this week with matches against Tampa Catholic and Tampa Bay HEAT.

8. Tarpon Springs (17-2)

Up next: Idle

Last spot: No. 6

Why they moved down: The Spongers had their 15-match win streak snapped with a five-set to Osceola before bouncing back to sweep Lakewood to close out the regular season.

9. Palm Harbor University (14-8)

Up next: Thursday at Mitchell

Last spot: No. 8

Why they moved down: The Hurricanes went 2-3 at the Bishop Moore Invitational in Orlando this past weekend. They travel to Mitchell on Thursday for their regular season finale.

10. Seminole (10-5)

Up next: Idle

Last spot: No. 10

Why they stayed put: The Warhawks went 1-1 last week, beating Dunedin and losing to East Lake to wrap up their regular season schedule.

On the bubble: Northside Christian (11-9), Largo (13-11), Indian Rocks Christian (15-9), Boca Ciega (10-6),
