The Pinellas County Volleyball Player of the Week – Nov. 8th – Nov. 12th

RS/S Gabrielle Spankus, Sr.,Tarpon Springs

The Florida Athletic Coaches Association District 14 player of the year has been a solid contributor since her freshman season in 2018 when Tarpon Springs reached the state semifinals. 

This season, Spankus did a little bit of everything for the Spongers. She finished with 342 assists, 150 digs, 133 kills and 80 service aces 

Her all-around play was a big reason Tarpon Springs won 15 straight matches during the season and advanced to the region semifinals. 

In the quarterfinals, Spankus recorded 27 assists, 14 digs, eight kills and two service aces to beat Sebring. 

Her stats are just as impressive in the classroom. Spankus has a 4.69 weighted grade point average, which ranks third in her class. 

Fans took notice. Spankus received 55 percent of the votes (986) in the Pinellas County volleyball player of the week poll to beat out Osceola’s Sydney Powell, who had 32 percent (573 votes).
