The Hillsborough County Football Player of the Week – Nov. 1

LB Cameron Campbell, Jr., Wharton

As a freshman two years ago, Cameron Campbell stood out because of his ability to create turnovers. He finished that season with two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Campbell has continued to make big plays.

This season, the junior has recovered four fumbles, recorded four interceptions and blocked three punts as one of the leaders of the area’s best defenses.

Once Campbell (featured photo above courtesy of Karl Greeson Photography) gets his hands on the ball, he heads for the end zone.

He has scored a whopping five defensive touchdowns this season (three interceptions, two fumble recoveries).

Two weeks ago, Campbell returned a fumble and a blocked punt for touchdowns in a win over Sickles.

That got the attention of fans. Campbell received 43 percent of the votes in the Hillsborough County football player of the week poll, beating out Plant City’s Seth Hogan, who had 28 percent (760 votes).
