Hoops4Sportsmanship Classic held today at Carrollwood Day

The 12-team Hoops4Sportsmanship Classic will be held today at Carrollwood Day. 

The tournament, which features boys and girls teams in the bay area, was started by the West Coast Officials Association, led by Dave Queen and Dave Silverman. 

In addition, seven public servants with ties to bay area basketball will be honored in either pregame or halftime ceremonies. The honorees are: former Robinson standouts Charlie Bradley (USF)and Harriet Brumfield (Vanderbilt), West Coast Officials Association president Clem Brooks, former Carrollwood Day athletic director Frank Mabry, Tampa Housing Authority CEO Jerome Ryans and former Hillsborough County School District area superintendent and current board member Henry ‘Shake’ Washington.

Two games highlight today’s schedule. On the boys side, Wharton (9-1) faces undefeated Plant City (8-0) at 4:15. The tops girls game features host Carrollwood Day (9-1) taking on unbeaten Bloomingdale (10-0) at 6:30.
