Football Player of the Week Poll — State Finals (Dec. 10-18)

Here are the nominees for the football player of the finals played over the past two weeks. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Monday. 

DB T.J. Bullard, Sr., Berkeley Prep: Finished with a team-high 12 tackles in a loss to Hollywood Chaminade in the 3A state title game. 

LB AJ Cottrill, Sr., Jesuit: Recorded seven tackles and had the game-sealing interception to beat Pensacola Pine Forest in the 6A state title game. 

WR Greg Gaines III, Sr., Tampa Bay Tech: The Iowa State signee had seven catches for 131 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas in the 7A state title game. 

WR Jaydn Girard, Sr., Jesuit: The Wake Forest signee had six catches for 115 yards, including a 78-yarder that set up his game-winning catch with 37 seconds left to beat Pensacola Pine Forest in the 6A state title game. 

QB Luke Knight, So., Jesuit: Threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner with 37 seconds left to beat Pensacola Pine Forest in the 6A state title game. 

RB Joquez Smith, Jr., Jesuit: Rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and run in a two-point conversion in a win over Pensacola Pine Forest in the 6A state title game. 

WR Junior Vandeross, Sr., Jesuit: The Toledo signee had six catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns that helped ignite the Tigers’ rally to beat Pensacola Pine Forest in the 6A state title game. 

QB Xavione Washington, Jr., Tampa Bay Tech: Threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 42 more in a loss to Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas in the 7A state title game.
