Here are the nominees for the Hernando County football defensive player of the year. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Wednesday. 

LB Jordan Novometsky, Sr., Springstead: Recorded 127 tackles, four sacks and three forced fumbles to help the Sharks go 6-4 this season. 

LB Brady Nowlan, Jr., Nature Coast: Finished with 118 tackles, four sacks and four forced fumbles to help the Sharks go 8-4 this season. 

LB Sam Sternberger, Sr., Hernando: Ended up with 117 tackles and 1 ½ sacks and led the Leopards to a 6-5 finish this season.
