F Princess Hester, Sr., Weeki Wachee

The senior forms a veritable wall as the Hornets’ last line of defense. The few times opponents dare to enter the lane, they are greeted by long arms that usually swat their shots into orbit.

Two weeks ago, Hester’s defensive prowess was pivotal in helping Weeki Wachee to exact revenge from an earlier defeat against rival Hernando. 

Hester set the school record for most blocks in a game with 10 to lead the Hornets to a 25-23 win in the rematch. 

Fans took notice. Hester had 92 percent of the votes (96) to win the Hernando County girls basketball player of the week poll.
