G Desi Collins, Jr., River Ridge

After starting the season 8-8, River Ridge has won eight of its last nine games. 

Desi Collins has been instrumental in that turnaround. 

The junior is averaging a team-leading 11.7 points per game this season. 

Two weeks ago, Collins averaged 17 points, six assists and four rebounds per game in wins over East Lake, Weeki Wachee and Anclote. 

Fans took notice. Collins had 44 percent of the votes (935) in the Pasco County girls basketball player of the week poll to beat out Mitchell’s Julia Rueda, who had 28 percent (590 votes).
