Outlook

This is a rematch from the 2020 state championship match that Shorecrest lost 4-0. After reaching the region final last year with a young roster, the Chargers entered the playoffs this season with more experience. The result was a return trip to face a soccer juggernaut. St. Johns Country Day has won 10 straight state title, the longest streak of any girls soccer program in state history. Another title would make it 14 overall, one away from tying Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas for the most in state history. In the playoffs, the Spartans have steamrolled the opposition, outscoring foes by a combined 32-0 to get back to DeLand’s Spec Martin Stadium. Still, the Chargers can take solace in knowing what to expect after playing on the sport’s biggest stage before and getting the face the state’s premier program — again.
