Outlook

Last season, Tampa Catholic won the 3A state title. Tampa Prep is trying to keep the county streak alive in the classification. The undefeated Terrapins are ranked No. 1 nationally by MaxPreps. They are in the state final for the first time since winning consecutive titles in 2012-13. Tampa Prep has been dominant in the postseason, winning its past three matches by a combined 14-0. A championship will have special more than just maintaining the Terrapins’ national status. Asher Jones’ sister, Sage, was involved in a car accident earlier this year that cut short her season. The boys dedicated their season to her and wear shirts that read “Get well Sage” and “We play for Sage” during warmups. Today’s title is one of the best high school matches of the year. Both teams are ranked among the top three nationally.
