Outlook

Plant lost last year’s state title match 1-0 in overtime to Naples Gulf Coast. The painful memories of that outcome served as a powerful motivator this season. Now, the Panthers are finding ways to pull out close contests. They have won 10 straight matches, including four during that streak that were each decided by a goal. The offense is balanced with four players — Jospeh Anderson, Adan McGlynn, Justin Tiller and Otis Wildman — who have recorded double digits in goals this season. Scoring could be difficult against Cypress Bay, which has allowed just 10 goals all season. The Lightning’s stingy defense is a big reason it is ranked No. 1 in the class, No. 4 overall in the state and No. 7 nationally by MaxPreps.
