What to watch

Calvary Christian (2-0) at Academy of the Holy Names (2-0), 6

The Warriors are a state title contender who started the season with a pair of impressive victories over Sickles and Auburndale. The defending 3A state champion Jaguars showed they could repeat, especially after shutting out 6A defending state semifinalist Land O’ Lakes last week. 

Berkeley Prep (3-0) at Tampa Catholic (2-0), 6

This one could end up being a slugfest. The Buccaneers are averaging eight runs per game in their perfect start. The offense is led by Hannah Church, an Ohio State commit who has four home runs so far this season. The Crusaders have outscored foes by a combined 28-0 in their first two games. Angelina Ricciardi is hitting .833 with two homers and nine RBIs to start the season. 

Seminole (1-0) at Clearwater (2-0), 7

The host Tornadoes started the season by outscoring foes by a combined 36-0. Keeping that offensive production up will be tough against the Warhawks Mackenzie Duford, who threw a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in the season opener against Countryside. 

Land O’ Lakes (2-1) at Mitchell (3-0), 8

A matchup between the top two teams in Pasco County, both of whom made it to Clermont for the state tournament last season. The Gators, a defending state finalist, are looking to rebound after losing to defending 3A state champion Academy of the Holy Names last week. The host Mustangs, a defending state semifinalist, are averaging 11 runs per game during their perfect start.
