Here are the nominees for the Hernando County baseball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

OF Dominic Gattinella, Sr., Nature Coast: Had a double, a homer, two RBIs and a run scored in a season-opening win over Central. 

P/OF Owen Haripersad, Jr., Springstead: Threw five innings, allowing one unearned run and two hits while striking out six in a win over Lecanto. 

IB/P Ethan Higgns, Jr., Hernando Christian: Went a combined 6-for-9 with four doubles, eight RBIs and six runs scored to lead the Lions to a 3-0 start. 

P/OF Michael Savarese, Jr., Hernando: Threw four scoreless innings with one hit allowed while striking out 10 in the season opener against Crystal River and  hit a homer against Hudson to help the Leopards get off to a perfect start.
