Hillsborough County softball player of the week poll – March 7-12

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County softball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Friday. 

P Daria Bush, Fr., Chamberlain: Allowed one earned run on two hits and struck out 15 in a win over Blake.

3B/P/SS DaNia Brooks, Jr., Sickles: Finished a combined 4-for-8 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in wins over Lake Region and Land O’ Lakes in the first day of the Bay Made Fastpitch Invitational. 

1B/P Kaia Cortes, So., Berkeley Prep: In a battle of unbeatens, Cortes did her part on offense. She was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two homers and a double to go along with three runs and two runs scored to lead the Buccaneers to a 7-5 victory over Wesley Chapel.

C/INF Lily Holtje, So., Steinbrenner: Went a combined 8-for-14 with a double, a homer and four RBIs in wins over Sickles, East Bay, Durant and Calvary Christian. 

P/OF Kohana Pousson, Jr., Robinson: Threw a combined 13 ⅔ innings without allowing an earned run and recorded 16 strikeouts in wins over Palmetto and Lakeland McKeel in the first day of the Bay Made Fastpitch Invitational. She also had two hits, including a homer, against McKeel. 

INF/P/C Jocelyn Wilkes, Sr., Gaither: Went a combined 6-for-6 with a double, a homer and five RBIs at the plate and threw a combined 7 ⅓ scoreless, allowing one hit and striking out 11 in wins over Tampa Bay Tech and Jefferson. 

P Kelsey Winters, Sr., Newsome: Threw a pair of complete games, allowing two unearned runs and striking out a combined 26 in wins over Bloomingdale and Durant.
