Hillsborough County baseball player of the week poll – March 7-12

Here are the nominees for the Hillsborough County baseball player of the week. Voting lasts until 9 a.m. Saturday. 

2B Anthony Castillo, Sr., Berkeley Prep: Ended up going 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the Buccaneers’ rally in the bottom of the seventh to beat Bishop McLaughlin 3-2. 

OF/1B Jake Kulikowski, Jr., Jesuit: Went a combined 5-for-10 with a homer and three RBIs in a pair of wins over Venice and a victory over Tampa Catholic. 

C Gio Mendoza, Jr., Freedom: Had a combined five hits for the week, including a 4-for-4 performance in a win over Sumner. 

OF/1B/P Ethan Pues, Sr., Strawberry Crest: Ended up going a combined 6-for-10 with two doubles, two homers and seven RBIs in three games. 

1B/P Sal Urso, Sr., Hillsborough: Went a combined 7-for-11 with a double and two RBIs in wins over Strawberry Crest, Spoto and Newsome. 

P Jack Weber, Sr., Newsome: Struck out all nine batters he faced in a win over Spoto.
